about greg anthony

Greg Anthony is a conductor, pianist, arranger and orchestrator.

Greg is currently the conductor of the world premier musical Wonderland, based on Alice in Wonderland. Wonderland is produced by the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, and will continue its run at the Alley Theatre in Houston.

Greg recently served as Associate Music Director in Disney's production of The Little Mermaid. On Broadway, he has also played Keyboard 1 in the revival of A Chorus Line. Previously, he worked as music director and conductor of the opera Brundibar. With an original libretto by Tony Kushner, set design by Maurice Sendak, and direction by Tony Taccone, the opera played to a sold out run at the New Victory Theatre in New York. Greg also served as Associate Conductor of The Lion King national tour for over two years. Regional conducting credits include shows at Hot Summer Nights (Cincinnati, OH), West Virginia Public Theatre, Surflight Theatre (Beach Haven, NJ), and Human Race Theatre (Dayton, OH). He is a National Opera Association Award winner for Conrad Susa’s Transformations (performed at Cincinnati Conservatory). Greg provided music direction and orchestrations for the premiere production of We Tell the Story, a musical revue celebrating the songs of Flaherty and Ahrens.

 

As an arranger and orchestrator, Greg has orchestrated for the NYC Gay Men's Chorus at Carnegie Hall, Jack Everly and the Indianapolis Symphony, and most frequently, for Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops orchestra. Most recently, he orchestrated the new musical, Ace, for St. Louis Repertory Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, and the Signature Theatre in Alexandria, VA. Ace is currently being licensed by regional theatre across the country. Greg received his Master's degree in conducting from University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music.

Greg is currently serving as Conductor of the world premier musical Wonderland, based on Lewis Caroll's Alice in Wonderland. Wonderland is produced by the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, and will continue its run at the Alley Theatre in Houston. Gregory Boyd, artistic director of Houston's Alley Theatre, directs. The music is by composer Frank Wildhorn (The Civil War and Jekyll & Hyde) with lyrics by Jack Murphy (The Civil War). The book is by Murphy and Boyd. Ronald Melrose is music supervisor and vocal and dance arranger.
